Nou Camp, Barcelona Spain To Allow 100% Capacity At Outdoor Sporting Venues From Friday Spain News

Spain’s Health Ministry announced today, that from October 1, spectators will once again be allowed to fill open-air stadiums up to full capacity. At present, the crowd capacity stands at 60%.

As agreed with the Interterritorial Council, anyone attending an outdoor venue will still be required to wear a face mask and remain 1.5 meters apart. Eating, smoking and drinking will also be forbidden, with the exception of water.

The attendance capacity will also be increased for indoor venues. Currently, 40% capacity is allowed but from October 1 this will increase to 80%.

The agreement states that natural ventilation should be provided at all times at indoor venues and if this is not possible, forced ventilation should be used in order to obtain sufficient air renewal.

Before attending any of the sporting events, spectators will be made aware of details for time slots, access, health security measures and admission conditions.

The organisers of all the events must guarantee that there is sufficient security personnel both inside and outside of the venue where the event is taking place to avoid overcrowding.

The agreement also states that “time slots will be set for staggered access for the public by zones and sectors, starting with those furthest from the exit. The procedure will be reversed for departure.

These new rules have come just in time for the start of sporting competitions that are scheduled throughout October. Those sports include the League of the Association of Basketball Clubs (ACB) and the National Professional Soccer League, as well many others.

As stated in the agreement, “a maximum capacity of up to 100% has been set for events in open venues and a maximum capacity of up to 80% for events in closed venues, respecting non-pharmacological protection measures against COVID -19.

Those attending the events will preferably be paid people, as well as the local public and the training, will preferably be held without public and, in any case, within the limits of the established maximum capacity.

The agreement also emphasises “that the monitoring of compliance with the mandatory use of a mask and respect for health indications will be strengthened. Thus, people who present symptoms compatible with COVID-19, as well as those who are in isolation or in a quarantine period due to close contact with a case of COVID-19, will not attend the sporting event.

On Tuesday, September 28, the Health Ministry reported 2,290 new infections. This is the lowest daily number of infections recorded since July of last year. A further 60 fatalities were also added to the official count bringing the total to 86,358.

The cumulative incidence rate dropped three points and reached 62.58 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the last 14 days.
