Playa de Muro Spain’s Two Best Beaches Revealed In Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Awards Spain News

It’s official! Spain has two of Europe’s best beaches.

That’s according to the Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Awards for 2022 which listed two of Spain’s loveliest beaches in the top 25 for 2022.

Spain is synonymous with its vibrant culture, history and of course its food, however, it is the beaches that many people seek when booking their holidays.

So what better idea than to visit them while on your break?

In their latest awards, Tripadvisor placed two of the country’s beaches in the top 10, proving once again that Spain and its islands are the destination of choice for those looking to enjoy some of Europe’s best beaches.

The Tripadvisor awards collect the reviews of thousands of travellers who rate beaches, destinations, restaurants and more via their popular website and app.

So what are Spain’s best beaches?

Playa de Muro, Majorca

The beautiful beach of Playa de Muro (pictured top and below) which is on the popular island of Majorca was rated as the third best beach in Europe and 17th in the world ratings.

The beach is the island's largest and is known for its soft, white sand.

The site says, “Playa de Muro has a wonderful, sandy beach with a warm, clear turquoise sea. Ideal for children because of its gentle, shallow waters.

A holidaymaker from Cheshire said: “A wonderful beach with deep golden sand, clear light blue sea which is like a warm bath and is very shallow for quite a way out!

Go in the mornings after breakfast when it’s quiet, it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Another reviewer said, “A long white sandy beach which you will find hard to beat. Great for everybody but particularly families with children.

With another saying that it was the “perfect beach for small children”.

Sotavento de Jandía Beach, Fuerteventura

Rated as the second-best Spanish beach according to the awards was Fuertaventura’s Sotavento de Jandia beach, located in the south-east of the island.

The beach was rated as Europe’s ninth-best beach boasting large sand dunes and crystal clear waters.

One rater said, “If crowded beaches with sun loungers for hire and beach bars aren’t your thing - Sotavento is the alternative you are looking for.

Stunningly beautiful and expansive, you can relax and enjoy some peace and quiet and privacy.

One UK visitor said: “The best beach in the whole of Fuerteventura! Super sandy, quiet, not too many people and easy to swim.

Another said: “One of the best public beaches in Fuerteventura. Amazing views, clean beach, big parking and plenty of space here.

Spain Lifts Eases Restrictions

Spain and its islands have been hugely impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic with many holidaymakers unable to travel to the country as a result of travel restrictions.

However, in recent weeks the central and regional governments have lifted the majority of entry restrictions opening up the mainland, the Canary and Balearic Islands to tourists in time for the summer peak period.

This week, the Spanish government announced that those travelling from third countries would be able to enter Spain if they have been infected in the last 180 days and hold a Covid-19 recovery certificate.

They published the changes to the Covid regulations on travel to Spain in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on Saturday, February 26.

Prior to this, only those who were fully vaccinated could enter the country.

There was also good news for British holidaymakers with teens after it was announced that unvaccinated youngsters between the ages of 12 and 17 would be able to visit for their summer holidays even if they were not fully vaccinated.

However, they would still need to show proof that they were Covid free via a PCR test result within 72 hours of arrival.
